AARP Magazine Features Harry Belafonte

In the January 2006 issue of AARP Magazine, “World’s Largest Circulation Magazine”, Harry Belafonte was singled out for special praise. While I’m sure that he has done a lot of good work, he utilizes his celebrity to viciously attack the United States; and in the guise of “speaking out against civil injustice” he smears all those with whom he disagrees. Both Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice have been particular targets for his libels and attacks.

As a long time AARP member (since 1988), I called to register my disapproval. The best I could achieve was the statement that my call (like all calls) would be recorded and that “someone would listen to it”.

If you share my disbelief and outrage, join me by faxing Bill Novelli, AARP's CEO, at (202) 434-6483 to express your concerns.

Maybe together we can get AARP to focus on members’ needs rather than on endorsing and helping finance repeated attacks on the United States as “a racist nation”.
